Currently Listening To: Right Round - Flo Rida
Tim woke up very late today, precisely at 2pm. Actually he could have woken up earlier but he decided to stay in bed. He woke up to various miss calls and messages from people after plugging his phone into the charger realizing it went dead over the night.
Rushed/bussed to school on 69, met Bear and Gee at the school bus stop, got on 23 to Bugis, for a short interview with Simon, a previous lecturer from Chemistry. Met Huiling at the Bugis MRT, walked apprehensively towards Jln. Pisang, where the Chemistry and Point of Contact with Simon was to be at. Decided to take a shit break as we walked two blocks at Raffles Hospital– Bear made a passing comment that hospitals are not a place to visit right now because of the Swine Flu. I decided that my shit business was more important and apparently Bear did too because I found him at the urinals as I exited from the cubicle.
Simon decided to run late, we were instructed to sit down at the corner kopi shop at “the other end of Jln. Pisang”, which turned out to be an indian joint of prata and other delicacies associated with the second most populated country in the whole world. Simon grandly appeared out of a cab 20 mins after the agreed time of meeting, sporting a moustache. “This is new isn’t it,” he jokingly said while stroking it. We paid the indian man for the Bandung Bear ordered and the Coke.
Proceeded towards the Chemistry office, the place is very nice, reminded me of a properly done Mindvalley office (the difference being they were not stingy enough to spend on nice furniture and interior touchups). I think the “interview”, or Q&A, as it felt like it was, went quite well.
Regrouped outside the office, Huiling had to go off. Me, Bear and Gee decided to pay Haji Lane a visit and maybe later head to LaSalle. Randomly bumped into Kelly, Lyn and Josh at Haji, outside Duplex (where I saw yet another rainbow belt– for $20. The other ones were spotted at Deja Vu Vintage for $25 and another on JK’s waist). Kel just finished her interview with the Loft boss– went there later to check it out, the place is quite nice, they now expanded to have this public lounge area with guitar hero and other recreational things? Saw a Friegtag big sized tote going for $200, quite worth it actually.
Gee decided to head home after Haji, so me and Bear went on to LaSalle to meet up with Syahid who was sitting in for the Fashion Dip. gallery that day. Saw this piece by a Daniel Loh that can transform from a bag into a garment. Greatly impressed, I can’t even begin to imagine how to draft that thing. Zhiyang and Shiai was there too, Syahid closed up at 8pm, so we decided to head on to the supposedly highly confidential Club21 sale that no one knows about (yeah– how many of you reading this got wind of it?)
On a side note there is now a really cool café bar bistro thing at one of the ground floor LaSalle galleries. Very cool, it’s called “15 minutes”.
Took a bus to Suntec and walked through Millenia to get to the Flyer then to the former F1 Pit Building where the sale was at, it turned out to be over already at 8pm. Severely disappointed, but we managed to get a peek at the stuff on sale, saw racks and racks of clothing. Shiai and I were hoping for more footwear and bags. Shall return on Sunday to see what’s left– and Sunday– will go to the 8Q Fleatique as well.
Had an amazing 2 popiahs at Marina Sq foodcourt, and an ice kachang. And another ice cream as we trooped to Suntec in search for bubble tea, but it already closed. Siao, right?
Got home with Shiai on an amazingly smelly bus 67. A group of ah bengs passed by and one of them said, oh look, that girl, oh, that guy so gay. Haha.
Decided to do something about the increasing amount of clothes piling up around the room– attacked them with hangers and hung everything up in the wardrobe– oh I’m so proud of myself. Some items need to be washed!
APEL tomorrow and I have no idea what we are going to do. After APEL, head to town, club. Fun, please.

So what uh, if the going gets tough. Art has never been about being comfortable or being well off, some people make it but there are tons who don’t. But they are happy and can’t imagine themselves doing anything else.
“Success” is a relative thing. Different people measure it on so much varying levels, we often forget that because we live in a world where it is increasingly being measured by how much money you have to your name. Whatever happened to happiness being the measure of success?

An amazing rendition of Taylor Swift’s Love Story (with a bit of Coldplay’s Viva la vida thrown in) on piano and cello.
I wish I had access to a piano, even a digital one would do (no keyboards please, pedal is important to me). I’m actually sneaking minutes of play time every few months by going into a Best Denki to have a go on their display pianos, to satisfy that itch my fingers have for keys.
I never set about to learn Flash because there are various reasons contributing to its imminent demise in the near future of the Internet, so why bother?
But today, because of classes, I created my first Flash-based navigation menu.
I feel dirrrty.

Companies committed to a culture of antidesign (also consultants like Jakob Nielsen) may occasionally succeed in the marketplace, but they do so in spite of their antidesign, not because of it. Of course we can’t prove that; we can’t run a controlled experiment, let alone 41 of them with distinct shades of blue. It is merely one of those things a visually literate person knows. The fact that you don’t know it, or you deny it’s important, or deny it even can be known goes to show you really are better suited to programming a computer all day than dealing with actual human beings.

The king and his men, stole the queen from her bed
and bound her in her bones.
The seas be ours, and by the powers
where we will we’ll roam.
Yo, ho, all hands. Hoist the colours high.
Heave ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die.
Yo, ho, haul together. Hoist the colours high.
Heave ho, thieves and beggars, never shall we die.

I had a weird dream last night. There were aunties all over carrying the same green bag that I have, the same design and various shapes and forms. I was mortified.

I don’t know why but Wordpress 2.7 makes me want to write blog posts.
Open house today was fun. A surprising number of people who were into IMD/MOI (as opposed to the supposed sheer quantity of interest VSC is supposed to attract, and by right).
Encountered generally nice people compared to the rest after their horror stories such as Potato’s ITE girl who got her finger slashed quite deep accidentally by her friend using a penknife.
There were also a rather large amount of guys enquiring about ADM. There were more guys than girls that approached me actually. Cool, that course is severely lacking in the testosterone department :D
Now, pictures.
Helium filled balloons with wishes written on them, set free to the skylight.
Me in the pink Guides shirt drinking Zappel at Design canteen. With my companion the “Ask Me Anything” balloon and Mr. Ducky.
Posing with my 2D Art final painting that is on display at the Design entrance.
TP Design just launched a new microsite done by seniors from my course, in time with Open House 2009.
Must say I’m blown away by everything– the visuals, design, the experience, the UI. I can’t spot a single glaring mistake (this is very rare) and I am damn impressed and damn fucking proud of the students who did it. I am very proud to be an IMD student in TP Design right now.

Something (a lot of things actually) is bugging and eating at me. I don’t know what it is but it’s really affecting me and how I’m around people. I can sense their impatience and annoyance sometimes. No I don’t have a knack to detect these things, it’s just painfully obvious. Hence it becomes an issue.
Some people write nice, abstract, vague little lines of literature, almost poetry but not quite so, when they are emotionally unstable and their brains feel like snapping in two. No, that’s a way to describe arms and legs and such, body parts of length. Whatever, I’m digressing. Now all that is left is the vagueness. I really can’t be bothered.
Scoff at this because it desperately screams “attention seeking whore”.
I write not because of that I guess for the reason of documenting life as I live it, read back maybe a year or so later, laugh at myself for being a silly little boy and smile.
Also as an upkeep to my proficiency in literacy of the language so it doesn’t drop to a point where I can barely manage a sentence without some sort of a reliance on filler, invalid words such as “lah”.
A post that is random and drives no point, and has no clear message.
What’s new, really.

There was this guy today, wearing the transparent Club Marc jacket that I wanted to buy, but in white; shrieking and cat walking through the canteen, stopping at the drinks stall. You could see the heads all turning to look at him as he did his little parade across the stall fronts. He said Hi to my friend who he completely does not know, chatted him up a bit and then left.

I guess you know you’re good when your lecturer thinks you stole your work from somewhere.
An emotion that “occurs when a person lacks another’s superior quality, achievement, or possession and either desires it or wishes that the other lacked it.
A total surprise when the kiss and message arrived. Faint recollection of seeing a kiss from you before, did I return it? I forget, but sorry for not reciprocating it then if I didn’t. For the pictures you have don’t represent you very well, you’re much, much better in person. So much that I was thrown off and didn’t for a minute even think that you possibly could ever be interested…
That is if you are. The reluctance and absence of returned messages even though you’re the one who initiated, which leads me to start thinking, maybe I’m not replying with enough wit, or maybe I’m just boring. The presence of a much hotter, sought after character that is after you throws me off a bit; why don’t you want him?
So many questions makes me have doubt. I guess when I’m afraid to lose something, I over think, over plan and over do everything. The what ifs start arriving.
I won’t deny I’m anticipating what is about to happen, though. That is, if it does— would you reply to my last text message already?

If I say that I wrote this song for you, would you believe me?
It might not be as well-written or beautiful like other songs…
I want you to know that a love song cannot be written if you’re not in love.
But for you, I can write this song so easily.
You might have heard of hundreds & throusands of love songs.
They might be meaningful, but their meanings are for anyone.
And when you listen to this song, it is only written for you.
If you understand the meaning, our hearts will be together forever.”
Proudly presented to you by Fidelia Lee and Chuah Zhi Yang.

This pattern look familiar to you?
Maybe you’ve seen it at Citylink Mall while commuting in the city.
Or on that occasional wannabe who shops at Topman. Vans has a new release as well.
Some more Mondrian madness in products here and here.

Many PC makers are content to source all their components from one vendor, and Intel is obviously happy to bundle all of its components together under a brand name that suggests to consumers that “Centrino” is a feature they need. However, Apple has historically always selected the best parts available for its desired design goals. Last year, that meant skipping Intel’s WiFi chip. In the year since, Apple has been plagued with reports of problems related to MacBook graphics, forcing the company to rethink its use of Intel’s relatively uninspiring integrated graphics options.
Add in the fact that NVIDIA could offer a replacement northbridge/southbridge controller in one chip combined with far better integrated graphics performance, and it’s no wonder why Apple dropped Intel’s 2008 Montevina Centrino platform entirely for its new generation of MacBooks.
